Description
Beautiful late 19th century coal scuttle featuring an embossed Neoclassical design with bows and swags and swirled roses on the top as well as an integrated handled scoop for ashes or coal that sits beautifully inside it's custom pocket on the top back (see photos). The handles of the scuttle and the scoop appear to be made of ebony wood (though it is not confirmed). This handsome scuttle would compliment any fireplace with it's elegance. No makers mark but believed to be English made. The brass is heavily tarnished and there are numerous dents, the worst is shown in the 3rd to last photo. There is some tearing at the base (most have been soldered at one point in time. The piece is stable, however. See last 2 photos for reference). This scuttle measures aprox. 19" in height, 18.5" in length and is 13" in width and weighs 12 pounds.Shipping is USPS or FedEx ground to the U.S. only and is priced according to location; Ebay will calculate this for you. California sales will have a 7.75% tax added and Ebay may automatically collect other state tax as may be required. Thank you for your interest! #20.20.20-19
