All vehicle trades considered, including classics and performance. I can assist with financing and transport as needed.
Sale priced! Take a look at this spectacular 1947 Cadillac Sixty Special Fleetwood. With little more than a repaint, this car is much like it rolled of the assembly line more than 70 years ago. It remains a glorious automobile that seems to have been stuck in a time capsule for decades; rarely does a survivor of this era approach this condition.
To begin, this car is enormous. Just look at that back seat! But it is also very well proportioned with wonderful styling that is accented by the shiny black paint and stately trim. The wheels have newer Firestone bias-ply whitewalls along with the original “sombrero” wheel covers. Look underneath this car and you’ll be equally impressed. It is completely solid without any rust issues, and we’re talking about a lot of surface area here. Of course a car doesn’t stay in this condition all these years without some TLC, and I think it’s safe to say this Cadillac had a nice garage space and stayed out of snow and salt.
The drivetrain uses Cadillac’s 346ci monobloc flathead V8. This is a smooth, quiet engine equipped with hydraulic lifters from the factory. It is a reliable platform that even saw use in army tanks during WWII. However, while its 150hp rating was respectable in its day, it keeps this 4,500 pound car out of the performance category. The transmission is GM’s Hydramatic automatic which provides four forward gears plus reverse. It also has a conventional driveshaft and solid rear axle. The car has seen recent mechanical work to the brakes, steering, and suspension to ensure a roadworthy vehicle.
The original interior is quite a sight. Remember, this is from 1947! It is a testament to quality materials and craftsmanship as well as proper care. With this car you have to begin with the cavernous rear compartment. The legroom is tremendous, and footrests are provided along with a rear heater. The bench seat offers dual armrests for both occupants and is as comfortable as it looks. The front seat is also very nice and offers plenty of room too, while the wooden dashboard is very elegant. All gauges and lights work as do the horn, wipers, heater/defroster, and parking brake. So does the original AM radio! However the clock is just for looking at.
This Cadillac makes as big a statement now as it did in 1947. It is big, beautiful, and offers a wonderful ride. It is also a desirable model and in remarkable unrestored condition. I don’t think you’ll find its equal.
